About Connecticut Yankee
I came to England for higher education and I ended up queer. It must be the water. I am a terrible diarist, this is probably a self destructive attempt to prove this to myself. I was born and raised in Connecticut, the third smallest state in the Union. The experience was traumatizing. Think the Stepford Wives, but for real. I now work in foreign affairs and defence. One would think I am the only queer, but no, we are everywhere interestingly enough. Of course, being queer in a field such as defence does has its advantages and disadvantages. Advantages – lots of good looking men in uniform. Disadvantages – having to remind people that queer does not equal pansy. Alexander the Great conquered most of the known world and he was anything but straight. I now live in London, with whom I have a love-hate relationship. I have a love-love relationship with my partner who is British. I have a love-hate relationship with myself. I am continually trying to reconcile myself, with myself – which sucks. I chose this template because the theme ‘chaotic soul’ seemed to suit me well. Everybody is fooled by the calm surface, but underneath….that’s this blog.
